A Straight Trumpet?

We recently received an inquiry from a lady who is a senior member of a Christian church. She wished to have an instrument that could serve as a “signal” before worship begins—something to call the congregation together. Her request was inspired by a passage in the Holy Bible, Numbers 10, where trumpets were used to summon the people for assembly.



Following her description, we designed and crafted a straight trumpet for her. The instrument features a standard yellow brass trumpet bell and a yellow brass double-walled leadpipe, finished in a fully polished lacquer. With practice, we expect she will be able to produce two or three natural harmonic tones, just as in the ancient tradition.
