I have to say that I'm amazed by this little horn.  This is NOT just a novelty ax or something to take on travel as a last resort to keep your chops up. This horn plays GREAT.  Very even feel throughout the range of the instrument, very responsive... and very good intonation across the entre horn.  The sound is not *exactly* 100% trumpet like - but it does play very BIG & full.  The overall sound strikes me as being somewhere between a flugel and a trumpet - while the response and feel of the horn is similar to a cornet.  Very warm & round. Anyway... I couldn't put this thing down.  My tendency, based on the feel & sound of the instrument was to spend a lot of time playing ballads & jazz standards - as well as excerpts (whatever I could remember) from cornet solos. The feel of the horn kind of compels you to play in a mellow direction.  But that being said... I did play through some kicks from some Chicago charts just for kicks,... and exercised it up a high F# - it does handle it well when you push the horn.  It's capable of sounding "brilliant" when you want it to...very versatile ax. Overall, I'm amazed...- Dave
